Our History

More than a century ago, in 1880, when Lebanon was still part of the Ottoman Empire, Lutfallah Manasseh, a merchant in Beirut, brought back from a long trip to Paris the representation of prestigious luxury brands in the art of the table.

The purity of Christofle's chiseled silver and the brilliance of Baccarat's crystal were added to a range of brands launched by Lutfallah Manasseh.

In 1935, Edouard Manasseh founded and consolidated Ets. L Manasseh & Co through exclusive representation agreements with the goldsmith Christofle, the crystal makers Baccarat and Lalique, the porcelain maker Bernardaud (Limoges), the confectioner Foucher and the jeweler Boucheron, and placed the House of Manasseh at the forefront of the pioneering luxury goods houses in Lebanon and the Middle East.

In 1962, after Edouard Manasseh's death, his wife Nadia, an accomplished businesswoman, took over and continued the tradition with her son Lutfallah who, thanks to his intelligence, his avant-garde marketing approach and his modern management, succeeded in 1990 in giving a new breath to the company by modernizing it. He created the wedding list, updated the computer system and opened the Ashrafieh branch in 1995.

When Lutfallah passed away in 2004, his two sisters Michèle Philippides and Claude Issa, two women of the world, initiated since their young age to the art of the table, took over the business and breathed new life into the family enterprise by opening a sumptuous point of sale in the heart of the new downtown district, which has become the "Flagship" and the main showcase of Maison Manasseh in Lebanon.

Michèle Philippides is now the CEO of the family business, with her great managerial skills, her solid mastery of the art of the table and her exquisite taste in the art of entertaining, supported by her daughter Evy Philippides and her second daughter Tina Philippides who follows in her footsteps and dedicates herself completely to the family business by bringing her great added value in the fields of Marketing and Communication Strategy, strengthening the presence of Ets. Manasseh online and on social networks by attracting a young and well-informed international customer base.
